First Day at IAAC

The first day at IAAC was a whirlwind of excitement! After registering, I had the chance to meet my classmates, as well as students from other master's programs. Everyone was super welcoming, which made the start even better. We toured the workshops and classrooms, and I immediately felt the difference from a traditional university, IAAC feels more like a creative workshop space, which really resonated with me. I could already tell this was going to be an inspiring place to learn and create.

Introduction to the Course

The following day, we had our course introduction. One phrase really stuck with me: we're not designing for the future, but for the present and not just for humans, but for the entire ecosystem. That mindset shift totally set the tone for me. The structure of the course was laid out, and it’s all about being hands-on and experimental, let's see!

Exploring Poblenou

We then got to explore the neighborhood of Poblenou, the area surrounding IAAC. We visited some amazing partner spaces of the program, like TransfoLAB and Bioma, an urban garden full of interesting initiatives. It was eye-opening to see past IAAC projects in action in real-world spaces. Poblenou's creative energy made it feel like the perfect backdrop for everything we’re about to do.

Workshop Tour at Elisava

Next week, we finally made it to Elisava! They showed us around their workshops, from fabrication to printing, graphic design, and video/photography spaces. It felt like a treasure trove of creative possibilities. I’m already planning to take advantage of the photography studio to document my projects and use the print lab to bring them to life. Honestly, the mix of both digital and hands-on creation has me really excited for what’s to come.
