Living material: Hairy mycelium

For the living material, I experimented with growing mycelium on my own hair, inspired by my curiosity about working with parts of my body. The process involved:
Collecting and sterilizing the hair: I boiled the hair in water for 30 minutes, then drained and dried it slightly.
Preparing the growing substrate: I mixed the sterilized hair with wood chips and mycelium from a growing kit, ensuring all steps were carried out in sterile conditions (using disinfected gloves and alcohol).
Creating the environment: I placed the mixture in a plastic container with small holes for humidity regulation and stored it in a locker to grow.
After one week, I observed minimal mycelium growth, but the experiment remained uncontaminated, which was a positive first step.
Areas for improvement:
I might refine the substrate mixture to better support the mycelium’s growth.
Experimenting with different humidity levels and environmental conditions could yield better results.
